This post will be mostly photos I took on a day trip Periana – a beautiful village about 40 minutes from Malaga. The village dates back to 1761 and has the most stunning views of countryside, mountains, the Lake (Reservoir) Viñuela and the coastline. The village sits amongst olive groves, mountain ranges and ancient pueblos blancos (white villages).
Roadtrip to Periana
On the way to Periana. Lake Vinuela, which is stunning.
This is the village of Periana, which is small and quaint with plenty of shops and restaurants.
We stopped for lunch at a wonderful restaurant, again gorgeous views. The food was amazing (we had a selection of tapas) and we sat on the terrace beneath a canopy of grape vines.
A Converted Watermill
After lunch we visited our friend, who lives in a converted watermill. It was a ruin when he bought it about fifteen years ago and has retained many original features.
Amazing day with friends and if you get the chance to visit this part of the world, I thoroughly recommend it. You will get a taste for real Spanish life and treated to spectacular views of the Spanish countryside.
