Memorable Boat Trip to La Duquesa

Memorable Boat Trip to La Duquesa

Off we went on another fantastic trip down the Med.  Eight of us and a dog.  We are never quite sure where we will end up so overnight bags and passports were packed.  We left Benalmadena at midday and cruised down the coast, heading south on Matt’s boat, ‘Asia‘.

The sea was calm and weather was perfect – beautiful blue sky and sunshine, with a perfect cooling breeze.

The most exciting thing that happened on the way was we saw dolphins!  Lots of them.  Five came and played by the boat for quite a while, so we switched the engines off and watched them.  I am unable to post a video here but you can check out my Facebook Page to see it – it really is amazing!

We also stopped just off the coast of Marbella and had a wonderful, cooling swim.  Jumping in the sea from the boat and even Keef the dog had a swim (he’s not keen on the water, but is a great swimmer!).

We decided to dock in La Duquesa and go for a drink and a meal, at a great Mexican restaurant – just what was needed!

La Duquesa is a beautiful town and one of the prettiest ports on the Costa del Sol.  Attractive promenades surround the port offering a wide selection of cafes, bars, shops and restaurants – something for everyone.  Life here is laid-back, with just enough going on in La Duquesa itself, or nearby, to keep all ages happy and content.  Stunning scenery gives the backdrop to this quiet town, and sandy beaches each side of the marina aren’t too busy and perfect for sunbathing and swimming in the sea.

After our delicious meal we headed back to the boat and poured Mojitos ready for the journey back.  Early evening provided the most spectacular views as the sun went down.

I can thoroughly recommend La Duquesa to visit – plenty to do, without the craziness you find further up the coast on the Costa del Sol – very pretty and peaceful, but enough there to keep busy if you want to.  If you’d like to read more about what there is to do there Click Here.

Arriving back in Benalmadena in the dark, there was only one thing left to do (after the jobs of tying up the boat, hosing the salt water off it, etc etc), and that was go for a drink – we were all shattered, but really happy – what and amazing day.
