Arroyo de la Miel market is in Tivoli World car park and is easy to find. A ten minute walk from Benalmadena train station, or a short bus ride. Every Friday morning from around 10am to about 2pm.
One of the week’s highlights. Outside our apartment it is transformed from a relatively quiet neighbourhood to a hustling, bustling plethora of sounds, smells and sights for a few hours. The clanking of metal poles as the stalls set up, chatter of those getting themselves organised for the day ahead. Enticing me outside – not that I need much enticing. It’s one of the many things I love about Spain, there is always a reason to get up out of bed and get outside!
So off we went to the market to stock up on fruit and veg! We always get the best seasonal produce here and at really low prices. And there are plenty of other things to buy too – clothes, shoes, local pottery, souvenirs – in fact, something for everyone. Which is why it is so busy with tourist and locals all year round.
The surrounding cafes, which are usually quiet, suddenly become swarmed and extra chairs and tables appear on the pavements, for those who require a refreshing drink.
There are plenty of markets on the Costa del Sol – check out THIS link for a guide to what’s on where.
